Due to quarantine restrictions, passenger traffic at the border and at the demarcation line with the occupied territories has decreased significantly.

However, the border guards at the border crossing points and entry-exit control poins continue training.

For example, a border guard Vladyslav and his service dog Daisy repeatedly found drugs and offenders at the Novotroitske and Hnutove entry-exit control poins. The specialization of the four-legged border guard Archie is especially relevant for the service on the demarcation line in the area of the Joint Forces Operation. The dog with his master Anatolii detect violators with weapons, ammunition and explosives.

Therefore, in order to maintain the skills of the four-legged border guards at the proper level, dog handlers are constantly training their “eared specialists”. The border guards train Spaniel Daisy and Shepherd Archie several times a day. In addition, service dogs are inspected daily for ticks. Danger of the spread of the pandemic virus also makes law enforcement officers wash the dogs carefully and disinfect their paws.

It should be reminded that at the moment the work of the entry-exit control poins at the demarcation line is suspended. Admission of persons who have special circumstances of humanitarian nature is carried out by a separate decision of the Commander of the Joint Forces Operation. However, pro-Russian militants in the Separate Regions of  Donetsk Oblast have completely stopped crossing the demarcation line. And to cross the demarcation line with the Separate Regions of Luhansk Oblast within the framework of the tripartite working group, a mechanism for passing citizens by the preliminary lists twice a week - on Wednesday and Saturday was worked out.
